Era una ciudad plagada de agentes dedicados al espionaje y el contraespionaje y se estaba librando una batalla feroz entre los esp\u00edas brit\u00e1nicos y alemanes en Espa\u00f1a. Los alemanes ten\u00edan ventaja sobre los aliados debido a la amistad de Franco con el r\u00e9gimen nazi. Los militares y funcionarios espa\u00f1oles tambi\u00e9n espiaban para Hitler.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">De entre los lugares donde se reun\u00edan destacaban dos: <strong>el restaurante Horcher y el sal\u00f3n de t\u00e9 Embassy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En 1943 Otto Horcher lleg\u00f3 a Madrid huyendo de las bombas en Berl\u00edn y abri\u00f3 un restaurante cerca del Retiro con el benepl\u00e1cito del r\u00e9gimen. En Berl\u00edn ya ten\u00eda otro con el mismo nombre y se codeaba con la alta jerarqu\u00eda nazi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fue el <strong>primero en ense\u00f1ar modales a los camareros, introdujo las cuberter\u00edas de plata de ley y las manteler\u00edas de hilo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La cocina era b\u00e1sicamente Segunda Guerra Mundial en los s\u00f3tanos del local se escond\u00eda a los grupos de refugiados que ven\u00edan huyendo de los nazis. El Dr. Eduardo Mart\u00ednez Alonso, junto con Alan Hillgarth, jefe del servicio secreto brit\u00e1nico en Espa\u00f1a y la esposa del embajador ingl\u00e9s coordinaron la ayuda\u00a0 y el paso de los refugiados. Se estima que unas 30000 personas pasaron por all\u00ed. Mientras, Margarita se esforzaba por mantener el alto nivel de calidad.<\/p>\n<p>Fue cerrado varias veces al ser considerado un nido de esp\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>Los dos establecimientos sobrevivieron a la guerra y est\u00e1n abiertos actualmente, por lo que son <strong>parada obligatoria de la historia de la gastronom\u00eda pol\u00edtica.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\t\t<style
